A’s still await clarity on Henderson Alvarez’s shoulder issue
Henderson Alvarez, who had shoulder surgery last summer, had an MRI on the shoulder Tuesday but the results were inconclusive, manager Bob Melvin said. Melvin said Alvarez will continue to receive treatment for his shoulder discomfort and there is no timetable for his return. Alvarez, a 2014 All-Star with the Marlins, left his final scheduled rehab start an inning early on Sunday with shoulder soreness. [...] baseman Jed Lowrie ran for the second day in a row and he said he believes he’ll get at least one rehab game before coming off the DL when eligible May 25. Lowrie was in a walking boot for three days for a contusion on the bottom left side of his right foot and wasn’t allowed to do any activity for five days; he displayed a photo in which the ankle was swollen and the entire side of his foot a deep purple.
