Sri Lanka flooding death toll rises to 23; more rain to come
COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (AP) — A government spokesman says rescue workers recovered 12 bodies buried in mudslides caused by heavy rains in central Sri Lanka, raising the death toll due to bad weather to 23.
Pradeep Kodippili, the spokesman of the Disaster Management Center, said Wednesday that the 12 victims had lived in houses buried by the mudslides that occurred Tuesday evening.
