If you are a Lonely Island interview completist — and, judging by the group's YouTube comments, some of you are — you may have noticed they’ve been talking about Jimmy Fallon a lot during the press tour for their forthcoming movie Popstar. Like, a lot.
And when they stopped by The Tonight Show Monday night, they explained why.
As a game to keep up their morale during their press tour, the group decided to work Fallon’s name into every interview they gave as much as possible, so they could unveil the whole thing on Fallon’s show as a grand finale.
"It’s like Jimmy Fallon always says," Andy Samberg told one interviewer, "if you think it, put it in the show."
"You know what Jimmy Fallon always says," Jorma Taccone told a politely nodding woman, "truth is stranger than not-truth."
It keeps going — with bonus Spanish!
"Jimmy Fallon has a saying, which is, ‘Never fuck in a volcano.’"
"You know what Jimmy Fallon says? ‘You dress for the job you want in track suits.’"
"Jimmy Fallon always says, ‘Wavelengths are like earths: Everybody’s on the same one.’"
"I believe it was Jimmy Fallon who said, ‘Never look a gift whale in the mouth.’"
"It’s like Jimmy Fallon always says: "Un elefante no es un perro.’" ("An elephant is not a dog.")
"Like Jimmy Fallon always says, ‘You can’t teach a horse to read Braille,’ and we try to live by that."
"Like Jimmy Fallon always says, ‘Always wear your beanie like a Smurf.’"
"It’s like Jimmy Fallon always says, ‘Po-tay-to, po-tah-to.’"
"¿Yo soy Jimmy Fallon?" ("I am Jimmy Fallon?")
I’ll be honest: I’d read the heck out of The Lonely Island Presents the Collected Wisdom of Jimmy Fallon.
