Minjee Lee hopes to ride momentum into Lake Merced
The night before the final round of the Lotte Championship in Hawaii last week, Minjee Lee trailed by five strokes after a third-round 74.
The 19-year-old Australian closed with an 8-under 64 for a one-stroke victory.

Lee is the fifth LPGA player to win twice before her 20th birthday, joining Ko, Lexi Thompson, Marlene Hagge and Sandra Haynie.
In Hawaii, she played a seven-hole stretch in 6-under, including a chip-in eagle on the par-5 13th and four birdies.
If your ball-striking’s on, you’re going to have a lot of chances.
There are a couple of reachable par-5s, so you can take advantage of those if you’re a long ball-striker.
Lee learned many golf lessons from Australian Karrie Webb, having won a scholarship as an amateur to spend the U.S. Open with Webb, her country’s most successful female golfer.
Ko is shooting for her third straight title in the Swinging Skirts, to go with two wins, two seconds and a tie for third this season.
“Everybody’s very talented and hard workers,” Lee said of golf’s brat pack.
The work ethic of all of us is really high, and I guess a lot of us can play pretty aggressive.
The teenager’s main goals for 2016 are lofty: “to play well in the majors and get to the Olympics.”
