Johnny Cueto’s pickoff move quicker than a Cat
In Wednesday’s Giants-River Cats exhibition, he picked off three Sacramento runners with quick moves to first base, catching Gorkys Hernandez, Grant Green and Darren Ford.
“I guess only God and I know what I do,” Cueto said after he threw 82 pitches over six innings, giving up three runs on eight hits.
Cueto was scratched from his first scheduled spring training start because he hadn’t built up enough strength after pitching through October with the champion Royals.

On Wednesday, he added an RBI single.
Matt Cain, who threw 90 pitches in his last outing in minor-league camp, got the go-ahead to start the Giants’ final spring training game Saturday.
