Cal has signed junior college linebacker Jordan Kunaszyk to a national letter of intent, head coach Sonny Dykes announced Wednesday.
After reportedly falling a credit short of being a full academic qualifier out of Roseville High School, he headed to American River College in Sacramento.
Kunaszyk earned JUCO Freshman All-American honors after recording 118 tackles, three sacks, one forced fumble and three pass breakups for the Beavers.
After Jake Kearney medically retired and Michael Barton transferred to Arizona, the Bears returned just three rotation regulars at linebacker:
Linebacker Aisea Tongilava, who missed last season with a toe injury, will re-join the fold in 2016.
To encourage competition, Dykes has moved safety Evan Rambo and cornerback A.J. Greathouse to linebacker for spring ball.
