Son joins suit by Burlingame woman, 97, who fought eviction
The lawsuit contends breach of contract, elder abuse and intentional infliction of emotional distress by the landlord, David Kantz. According to Hatch, three generations of women who owned the cottage she lived in promised her she could stay there for life, and Kantz — whose late wife was the last of the three women — violated that trust by hitting her with a 60-day eviction notice in February. Attorney Nanci Nishimura called the order “outrageous,” and contends that Hatch’s death was hastened by the stress of receiving an order to leave her longtime home.
