Russian River to rise 17 feet as rain pounds North Bay
The Russian River is predicted to rise nearly 17 feet by Saturday morning after rain storms wallop the North Bay, but will come just short of flooding, forecasters said Thursday.
The Russian River at Guerneville was measured at 14.9 feet Thursday morning and will rise to 31.5 feet by Saturday morning, just below the minor flood stage of 32 feet, said Bob Benjamin, a forecaster with the National Weather Service. Some minor flooding, however, could occur in the lower areas, he said.
The level will peak Saturday morning before subsiding down to around 24 feet by Sunday morning, according to Benjamin.
