94-year-old fan attends her first Warriors’ game
The Warriors sold out Oracle Arena for the 159th consecutive game Tuesday night, and among the crowd of 19,596 was one especially significant fan.
[...] a basketball fan, Stewart moved from Washington, D.C., to the Bay Area in 2009 and has been an avid Warriors supporter for the past five years.
At her retirement home in Berkeley, the residents crowd around the TV to watch “every game that comes on.”
When a friend of Stewart’s grandson met her before the holidays, she was so impressed with Stewart that she contacted the Warriors’ public-relations department.
Stewart arrived at Oracle in a Draymond Green T-shirt and took her seat in the arena’s lower bowl, after a quick stop to grab a beer.
Curry, Green and shooting guard Klay Thompson are featured on the latest Sports Illustrated cover, with the headline “This Is a Moment, Everyone.”
The league announced Tuesday that it changed the official scoring and designated that Curry’s shot with 0.6 of a second remaining in overtime was from 37 feet.
The Warriors contacted the NBA to review the original ruling on the distance of Curry’s game-winner, but the team said the league changes about 30 stats per season on its own.
