Jean Cocteau double feature at the Castro
There are no special effects in Jean Cocteau’s 1946 masterpiece of fantasy and illusion, “Beauty and the Beast.”
A writer, playwright, artist and filmmaker, Cocteau had talent that could not be fully harnessed by any one medium, but perhaps film expressed it best — and he only made six features.
Consider that he was already 41 when he made the film, which was his moviemaking debut.
