MARSHVILLE, N.C. (AP) — The pilot of a small plane has died when the aircraft came down in Union County.
Multiple media outlets reported the crash happened shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday in some woods near Marshville.
Officials say 68-year-old James Howard Cook of Lexington was the only person on the plane.
Authorities say Cook had flown a client to Daytona Beach, Florida, earlier Thursday and they think he was returning to Greensboro when the crash occurred.
It's unclear what caused the crash. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
