Section of highway could honor state trooper killed in 1982
(AP) — A section of U.S. highway 127 in the Lansing area could be renamed for a Michigan State Police trooper who was fatally shot in 1982.
According to police, the 28-year-old arrested a driver and was placing him in a patrol car when a passenger shot him from behind.
The bill sponsored by Democratic Sen. Curtis Hertel Jr. of East Lansing would designate U.S. 127 near Leslie and running to the Jackson County line as "Trooper Craig Scott Memorial Highway."
