Warriors’ Walton more popular by the day

There are also questions whether Walton, born and raised in Southern California and essentially a beach guy at heart, would be willing to step into the New York cauldron and work for overbearing Knicks owner James Dolan, who operates an atmosphere of stifling paranoia and has become known for his irrational decisions.

The Lakers are a much more obvious and attractive destination.

Neither has progressed to management’s liking - Kobe Bryant’s ongoing farewell tour hasn’t helped much on that count - and it seems almost certain that a new coach will be hired for next year.
