LGBT Group Is Well On Its Way To Raising Enough Money To Buy Anti-Gay Church
A New York advocacy group dedicated to homeless lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) teens has succeeded in raising $200,000 toward purchasing a church known for its extremely homophobic views at auction.
In January, the Ali Forney Center launched an online fundraiser in an effort to secure the ATLAH World Missionary Church, which is located in New York's Harlem neighborhood, as housing for its homeless clients. By Feb. 8, Ali Forney Center officials indicated on the campaign's website that they had met their goal of $200,000.
