Less than an hour after he saw his team defeated in Super Bowl 50, North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory was rear-ended on Highway 237 in San Jose as he made his way from Levi’s Stadium, authorities said, though the governor did not suffer any major injuries in the crash.
Around 8:05 p.m., the California Highway Patrol responded to reports of the minor wreck just east of the North First Street exit, said Officer Ross Lee, a CHP spokesman.
Traffic had slowed in the eastbound lanes, Lee said, and McCrory’s vehicle had come to a stop when it was rear-ended by a Mercedes.
The accident occurred about 40 minutes after the final seconds ticked off the clock at Super Bowl 50 with the Denver Broncos topping McCrory’s Panthers by a score of 24-10.
