On May 27, at the Brigadier General Kazys Veverskis Training Area (Kazlų Rūda District), the Commander of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, General Raimundas Vaikšnoras, announced the decision to form a military unit within the Lithuanian Armed Forces—the Autonomous Remote Unmanned Operations (ANBO) Unit. The main task and objective of this unit are to integrate and centralise the unmanned aerial vehicle capabilities of the Lithuanian Armed Forces and other institutions within the armed forces, as well as to develop long-range strike capabilities using unmanned systems.
