Strong winds and frosts: storm warning issued across almost all of Kazakhstan

Tengrinews.kz — Forecasters have warned of strong winds in a number of regions on October 8. Frost and fog are expected in mountainous areas of the country.

Astana — southwesterly winds are expected, with gusts of 15-20 meters per second and occasional gusts of 23 meters per second at night and in the morning.

Zhetysu Region — fog is expected in mountainous areas at night and in the morning. Frost down to -2°C is forecast in the north at night. A high fire risk remains in the east.

Turkestan Region — southwesterly winds are expected, with daytime gusts of 15-20 meters per second in the north. Ground frost down to -1°C is forecast at night in mountainous areas.

Akmola Region — southwesterly to westerly winds are expected, with nighttime gusts of 15-20 meters per second and occasional gusts of 23-28 meters per second at night and in the morning. During the day, gusts of 15-20 meters per second are expected in the north and east. In Kokshetau, southwesterly to westerly winds of 15-20 meters per second are forecast, with daytime gusts up to 23 meters per second.

Karaganda Region — fog is expected at night and in the morning in the west, north and east. Southwesterly winds will gust to 15-20 meters per second in the west, north and east, occasionally reaching 23-28 meters per second during the day. In Karaganda, southwesterly winds are expected, with daytime gusts of 15-20 meters per second.

Mangystau Region — fog is expected at night and in the morning in the west, north and center. A high fire risk remains in the central part of the region. In Aktau, fog is expected at night and in the morning.

Ulytau Region — fog is expected at night and in the morning in the north and east. Southwesterly winds will gust to 15-20 meters per second in the north, east and center, occasionally reaching 23-28 meters per second during the day. An extreme fire risk remains in the west, south and center. In Zhezkazgan, southwesterly winds are expected, with daytime gusts of 15-20 meters per second. An extreme fire risk remains in place.

Kyzylorda Region — southwesterly winds are expected, with daytime gusts of 15-20 meters per second in the north, east and center. An extreme fire risk remains across the region, while a high fire risk remains in the north and center. In Kyzylorda, an extreme fire risk remains in place.

East Kazakhstan Region — rain and snow and icy conditions are expected at night in the east, while rain and snow are forecast during the day in the east and mountainous areas. Fog is expected at night and in the morning in the north. Southwesterly winds will reach 15-20 meters per second at night in the north and east, and 15-20 meters per second during the day, with gusts of 23-28 meters per second in the west, north and south. In Ust-Kamenogorsk, southwesterly winds are expected with gusts of 15-20 meters per second and occasional daytime gusts up to 23 meters per second.

Abai Region — southerly to southwesterly winds are expected, reaching 15-20 meters per second at night in the north and center. During the day, winds will reach 15-20 meters per second, with gusts of 23-28 meters per second in the west, north and center. In Semey, southerly to southwesterly winds are expected with gusts of 15-20 meters per second and occasional daytime gusts up to 23 meters per second.

Aktobe Region — westerly to northwesterly winds are expected, with gusts of 15-20 meters per second in the north and center. A high fire risk remains in the east, while an extreme fire risk remains in the west, south and center. In Aktobe, westerly winds are expected with gusts of 15-18 meters per second.

Pavlodar Region — southwesterly winds of 15-20 meters per second are expected, with daytime gusts of 23-28 meters per second in the west and north. In Pavlodar, southwesterly winds with gusts of 15-20 meters per second are forecast.

Atyrau Region — fog is expected at night and in the morning in the west and north. A high fire risk remains across the region, while an extreme fire risk remains in the south. In Atyrau, an extreme fire risk remains in place.

West Kazakhstan Region — fog is expected at night and in the morning in the west and north. A high fire risk remains in the west, south and east. In Uralsk, fog is expected at night and in the morning.

North Kazakhstan Region — rain is expected, with thunderstorms in the west and north. Fog is forecast at night and in the morning in the west. Westerly winds will reach 15-20 meters per second, with gusts of 23-28 meters per second at night in the west, south and east and during the day. In Petropavlovsk, rain and thunderstorms are expected. Westerly winds will reach 15-20 meters per second, with daytime gusts of 23-28 meters per second.

Zhambyl Region — fog is expected in mountainous areas. Southwesterly winds will gust to 15-20 meters per second in the mountains.

Almaty Region — fog is expected at night in mountainous areas. Ground frost down to -1°C is forecast at night in the north. A high fire risk remains in the east.
