Tokayev outlines the formula for a new partnership between Kazakhstan and Korea
Tengrinews.kz — President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev addressed the Central Asia – Republic of Korea Business Summit.
Welcoming the participants of the inaugural Central Asia – Republic of Korea Business Summit, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that Kazakhstan highly values South Korea’s steadfast commitment to the comprehensive development of economic ties with Central Asian nations.
"High geopolitical tensions worldwide are exerting unprecedented pressure on global trade and economic stability. Under these conditions, mutual understanding and trust between states stand as critical factors for successful long-term business partnerships, which are essential for the successful development of the entire range of relations between our countries, including Kazakhstan. We are committed to cooperating with the Republic of Korea. We hold your state, your ancient traditions, and your culture in high regard. Central Asia possesses significant natural resources, a growing consumer market, and a young population, as the President of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Lee Jae-myung, just rightly noted," the Head of State declared.
As the President of Kazakhstan reported, the combined GDP of our countries approached $550 billion last year, with growth rates exceeding 6 percent—nearly double the global average.
"Close trade and economic ties, along with expanded cooperation in the transport sector, are enhancing the region's investment attractiveness. Combining these advantages with Korea's industrial, technological, and financial capabilities opens broad prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation. I believe that by uniting our collective potential under the formula 'Synergy of resources – for the sake of common goals,' we can elevate our multifaceted partnership to a completely new qualitative level. Kazakhstan is ready to fully utilize its capabilities to achieve this important task," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted.
Previously, Tokayev proposed developing cooperation based on the "Korean technology — Kazakhstan production" model. According to him, this approach will allow for localized manufacturing, technology transfer, and the export of finished products to third-country markets.
