Kazakhstan’s autumn conscription campaign: 23,000 people to receive draft notices
Tengrinews.kz — Kazakhstan has launched its autumn military conscription campaign. By the end of December 2026, around 23,000 citizens aged 18 to 27 who have no grounds for deferment or exemption are expected to be called up for compulsory military service, according to the Ministry of Defense.
Where conscripts will serve
City and district conscription commissions have already begun their work. Most conscripts will join the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan.
They will be distributed as follows:
more than 12,000 people — to the Armed Forces;around 7,000 — to the National Guard;around 3,000 — to the Border Service of the National Security Committee;more than 400 — to the Ministry of Emergency Situations;around 300 — to the State Security Service.
Conscription goes digital
Kazakhstan continues to expand digital services for conscripts. Thanks to the “Digital Conscription” system and the “Smart Military Office” project, a significant share of conscription and military registration services is now provided proactively.
Registration for military service when changing one’s place of residence, initial registration of 17-year-old boys, as well as the granting of deferments and exemptions from conscription have been automated.
Military registration information is available to citizens through their personal accounts on the eGov portal.
What opportunities servicemen receive
During compulsory military service, servicemen can receive free training in professions that are in demand on the labor market. Around 20 specialties are available, including driver, communications specialist, paramedic and excavator operator.
Servicemen are also eligible for loan repayment deferments for the duration of their service.
Another option is admission to universities under state educational grants without taking the Unified National Testing (UNT).
