Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with Ilham Aliyev

During a meeting on the sidelines of the SCO summit, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev briefed the President of Azerbaijan on Kazakhstan’s large-scale political reforms and the results of the first elections to the unicameral Kurultai.
According to Tokayev, this historic event marked a significant milestone toward comprehensive modernization. The Kazakh leader thanked his Azerbaijani counterpart for his warm congratulations on the Kurultai elections and for the active participation of Azerbaijan’s observer mission.

"For the first time in our history, the recent elections received a unanimously positive assessment from international organizations. The Kurultai is committed to active cooperation with the Azerbaijani Parliament, the Milli Majlis. For my part, I will fully support this area of cooperation. As for interstate relations in general, they are developing dynamically. I personally oversee all key issues of our cooperation. I believe there is every reason to express satisfaction with their progress. Of course, the primary factor behind this success is the political will of the heads of state," the President said.

Ilham Aliyev emphasized the scale and significance of the reforms underway in Kazakhstan. The President of Azerbaijan also expressed a firm commitment to further strengthening comprehensive cooperation between the two nations.

"Our relations are developing successfully, are allied in nature, and are becoming more substantive day by day. Undoubtedly, the successful conduct of the Kurultai elections and the public support shown by the people of Kazakhstan for your course further confirm that society is responding correctly and appropriately to the reforms and steps you are taking," the Azerbaijani President stated.

During the meeting, the leaders reviewed trade, economic, and investment cooperation, as well as the progress of joint projects in various sectors, including transport, logistics, energy, and digitalization.
Concluding the conversation, the parties discussed the schedule of upcoming international events.
As a reminder: today President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Kyrgyzstan for a working visit. The Head of State will participate in the 26th meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the "SCO+" format meeting.
