Rain, squalls, and hail: storm warning issued in Astana and 16 regions

Tengrinews.kz — Forecasters warned that on August 28, a northern cyclone will bring rain and thunderstorms to much of Kazakhstan, with heavy rain, hail and squalls expected in some regions, according to Kazhydromet.

Astana — rain and thunderstorms are expected at times, with hail during the day. Northwest and north winds will reach 9-14 m/s, with daytime gusts of 15-20 m/s.

Almaty Region — northeast and east winds are expected, with gusts reaching 18 m/s in the south and mountainous areas during the day. Intense heat of 35 degrees Celsius is forecast for the afternoon. An extreme fire hazard remains in effect for the central, western, and eastern parts of the region. In Konaev extreme fire risk persists.

Zhetysu Region — northwest winds are expected near the Alakol Lakes, with gusts of 15-20 m/s. Intense heat of 35 degrees Celsius is forecast for the afternoon. An extreme fire hazard remains in the central, southern, and eastern parts of the region. In Taldykorgan extreme fire risk persists.

Karaganda Region — light rain and thunderstorms are expected in the north and east overnight; daytime will bring rain, thunderstorms, and hail to the north. Fog is forecast for the north and east during the night and morning. South winds will shift northwest, with gusts reaching 15 m/s in the north during the day. An extreme fire hazard remains in the south, while a high fire hazard persists in the west.

Ulytau Region — south winds shifting northwest are expected in the north, east, and center of the region, with gusts of 15-20 m/s. An extreme fire hazard remains in place. In Zhezkazgan south winds will shift northwest, with gusts reaching 15-20 m/s. An extreme fire hazard remains in effect.

Aktobe region — a high fire hazard remains in the center and northeast, while an extreme fire hazard persists across the rest of the region. In Aktobe extreme fire risk persists.

Mangystau Region — light rain and thunderstorms are expected in the northwest and center. North and northeast winds will gust to 15-20 m/s in the northwest and south. An extreme fire hazard remains in the west and north, while a high fire hazard is expected in the center. In Aktau extreme fire risk persists.

Akmola Region — rain and thunderstorms are expected overnight, with heavy rain in the north and east; daytime will bring rain, thunderstorms, and hail to the north, east, and south. Fog is forecast for the west and north during the night and morning. Northwest and north winds will gust to 15-20 m/s in the west, south, and east. In Kokshetau rain and thunderstorms are expected overnight.

West Kazakhstan Region — an extreme fire hazard remains in effect, with a high fire hazard persisting in the northwest.

Zhambyl Region — northwest winds with gusts of 15-20 m/s are expected in mountainous areas. An extreme fire hazard remains in effect. In Taraz extreme fire risk persists.

Kyzylorda Region — a dust storm is expected in the central part of the region during the day. Northwest winds will gust to 15-20 m/s in the center during the afternoon. An extreme fire hazard remains across the region. In Kyzylorda extreme fire risk persists.

Kostanay Region — rain and thunderstorms are expected in the east and northeast, with light rain and thunderstorms in the west and northwest. Fog is forecast for the west and north during the night and morning. North winds will gust to 15-20 m/s in the south and east during the day. A high fire hazard remains in the northwest and east, while an extreme fire hazard persists in the south, southeast, and center. In Kostanay light rain and thunderstorms are expected during the day.

North Kazakhstan Region — rain and thunderstorms are expected overnight, with hail and squalls in the north, east, and south; daytime will bring more rain, thunderstorms, hail, and squalls to those areas. Fog is forecast for the south during the night and morning. Northwest winds will gust to 15-20 m/s in the north, east, and south. In Petropavlovsk rain, thunderstorms, and hail are expected overnight. Northwest winds will gust to 15-20 m/s during the day.

Atyrau Region — an extreme fire hazard remains in effect. In Atyrau extreme fire risk persists.

Pavlodar Region — rain and thunderstorms are expected overnight in the west and north, and during the day in the west, east, and center. South winds will shift northwest, with daytime gusts reaching 15-20 m/s in the east. In Pavlodar rain and thunderstorms are expected in the morning and afternoon.

East Kazakhstan Region — fog is expected in the north and east of the East Kazakhstan region during the night and morning hours. East and southeast winds will reach 15-18 m/s in the southeast during the day.

Abai Region

On August 28, fog is expected in the east of the Abai region during the night and morning. An extreme fire hazard remains in the southwest of the region.
