Two sisters from Norway almost lost their inheritance in Taraz

Tengrinews.kz — Two daughters of a deceased resident of Taraz, who permanently live in Norway, nearly lost their inheritance due to a missed deadline and difficulties with document processing.
According to the Taraz City Court, the two daughters of the deceased filed a lawsuit to restore the deadline for accepting the inheritance. The women explained that they permanently live in Norway and learned of their father’s death, which occurred in October 2024, only four months later.

“The plaintiffs faced bureaucratic obstacles in processing the documents: the notary refused to accept powers of attorney in which the heirs’ surnames were written in English. As a result, the notary refused to issue them a certificate of inheritance,” the court said.

During the case review, the court established that the plaintiffs are first-priority heirs, along with the testator’s third daughter. There are no other first-priority heirs.
The defendant fully acknowledged the claims and did not object to their satisfaction.
After assessing the evidence presented, the court recognized the reasons for missing the deadline as valid, noting that the sisters permanently live outside Kazakhstan, did not learn about their father’s death in time and faced objective obstacles in processing the documents.
By court decision, the daughters’ deadline for accepting the inheritance was restored, and they were recognized as having accepted the inheritance after their father’s death.
The decision has entered into legal force.
