It turned out that during a routine patrol of the park, staff member and state inspector Erlan Moldakhmetov managed to capture a snow leopard (irbis) on video.
“This is one of the rarest and most valuable recordings. The snow leopard is listed in Kazakhstan’s Red Book, and its free presence in its natural habitat is considered an important indicator of the ecosystem’s stability and preservation,” the post says.
Altyn-Emel is a large state national natural park in the Zhetysu Region and one of the country’s best-known tourist attractions. It was founded in 1996 and covers a vast area with diverse landscapes, including deserts, mountain ranges, canyons, and steppes.
The park is famous for its unique nature and rare animals, including kulans, goitered gazelles, and other species listed in the Red Book.
