Australia's Moore set for another stern Scotland clash

Australia captain Stephen Moore says the Wallabies are braced for Scotland to be at their best when the teams meet for the first time since last year's World Cup at Murrayfield on Saturday.

Only an incorrectly-awarded penalty, kicked with seconds to spare by Australia, denied Scotland a remarkable World Cup quarter-final win at Twickenham as the Wallabies scraped a 35-34 victory.

This weekend's match will be Scotland's first of the end-of-year international campaign, whereas Australia will kick-off fresh from their 32-8 win over Wales at Cardiff's Principality Stadium last weekend.

"Scotland haven't played a Test for a while but they are still a very dangerous team, particularly at home," said Moore on Friday.

"They are strong in the forwards with some really effective backs. We saw that last year when we played them at the World Cup, so we're expecting that again tomorrow," the hooker added.

Only seven players from both sides who started that match will kick-off in Edinburgh and Moore suggested that might dampen down talk of a Scotland 'revenge' mission this weekend.

"Do we expect a backlash after what happened at Twickenham?," he said. "I'm not too sure about that. You'll need to speak to their players.

"For me, that match is a while ago. There is a lot of players in our team for tomorrow who didn't play in that game and who have never played against Scotland.

"This is the first time they will face Scotland and the first time they will play at this stadium.

"If you look back through the history it has always been a tough game. We have an enormous respect for Scotland and the way they play the game."

Australia welcome back scrum-half Will Genia as they look to complete the second leg of a possible Grand Slam after their comprehensive win over Wales.

"You're in a good position when you don't have to change players through injury or what not," said Moore. "Obviously Will was not available last week so he comes back in."
