It wasn’t as bad as Hugo in 1989. Or even Gracie in 1959. But Hurricane Matthew will take its place in South Carolina’s storied history of storms, a spitting, cartwheeling cyclone that punished the entire Carolina coast Friday and Saturday before another weather system shoved it out to sea.
