At a pep rally for students who will attend the new Philip Simmons Middle School in the fall, school leaders encouraged students to take a selfie with someone they’d never met. A DJ got the crowd dancing, the Cainhoy Middle steel drum band played pop hits and an aspiring slugger from the Daniel Island School showed off his baseball swing.
