Amid fears of war in Mindanao after Congress failed to pass the proposed Bangsamoro law, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) yesterday assured the United Nations (UN) of its continuing engagement on peace. Mohagher Iqbal, chief negotiator of the MILF, met yesterday with UN Undersecretary General Adama Dieng in Manila and conveyed the Moro front’s assurances that peace will be pursued in Mindanao even without the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) being passed into law. Iqbal, also the chairman of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC), drafted the original BBL.
