From +22°C to -18°C: forecasters reveal what November will be like in Kazakhstan

Tengrinews.kz — November in Kazakhstan is expected to be warmer than the climatic norm, but residents should not expect consistently mild weather. Rain, wet snow, blizzards and sharp temperature swings are forecast throughout the month. On some days, nighttime temperatures in the north, east and center of the country may drop to -18°C, according to Kazhydromet.
According to the advisory forecast, November is expected to be 1–2°C warmer than usual across most of Kazakhstan, while temperatures in the northwest of the country will be close to the climatic norm.
Unsettled weather is expected across Kazakhstan throughout the month. Precipitation is forecast, heavy at times, along with stronger winds, drifting snow, fog and icy conditions.
During the first week of November, relatively warm, mostly clear and dry weather will prevail. Only in the northeast and east of the country will rain and wet snow occur at the very beginning of the month, with fog possible at night.
In the middle of the first ten-day period, western regions are expected to see precipitation, with rain turning to snow, under the influence of an active cyclone moving in from the Black Sea area. By the end of the period, unsettled and windy weather with precipitation is forecast for the rest of the country. Rain will mainly fall in the southern half of Kazakhstan. The unstable weather will be accompanied by fog, icy conditions and stronger winds with gusts of 15–28 meters per second.
At the beginning of the month, the main temperature pattern will be:

in the west, southwest, south and southeast — +12°C to +22°C during the day;
in the north, northwest (Kostanay Region), center and east — nighttime temperatures ranging from -1°C to -8°C and 0°C to +5°C, with daytime temperatures from +5°C to +13°C.

By the end of the first ten-day period, temperatures are expected to fall in the northern half of the country: daytime temperatures will drop to 0°C to +5°C, while in the southern half they will range from +8°C to +13°C and in the west from +2°C to +10°C.
In mountainous areas of Kazakhstan, temperatures will fluctuate from -3°C to +2°C and -5°C to -10°C at night, and from +2°C to +10°C during the day.
During the second and third ten-day periods of November, frequent temperature fluctuations are expected:

in the northern half of the country, nighttime temperatures will range from -1°C to -13°C and -3°C to +5°C, while daytime temperatures will range from +1°C to +10°C and 0°C to -5°C;
in the southern half, nighttime temperatures will range from 0°C to -5°C and +2°C to +10°C, while daytime temperatures will range from 0°C to +5°C and +7°C to +15°C.

On some days, nighttime temperatures in the north, east and center of the country are expected to fall to -10°C to -18°C.
Kazhydromet stressed that the monthly weather forecast should be treated as advisory. It will be adjusted as the synoptic situation changes and refined through ten-day forecasts.
