Specialized public service centers in Almaty to change operating hours from October
Tengrinews.kz – Starting in October 2026, two specialized public service centers in Almaty will operate on Saturdays. Details were provided by the local branch of the Government for Citizens state corporation.
They are located at 1 Akkainar Street and 118 Aksuat Street. On Saturdays, documents will be accepted from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., while completed documents can be collected until 1:00 p.m.
All other specialized public service centers in the city operate on weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday remains a day off for them.
Waiting times for driver’s license exams
As a reminder, deputy Meirash Shynassilova raised the issue of long waits for driver’s license exams in a parliamentary inquiry addressed to Interior Minister Yerzhan Sadenov.
According to the deputy, citizens and driving schools report that the wait for an exam at specialized public service centers can take up to six months. She said available slots are booked almost instantly, while the registration process remains non-transparent.
“When there is a shortage and a lack of transparency, paid intermediaries inevitably emerge,” Shynassilova said.
The deputy proposed reducing queues for practical exams by using driving school test tracks. She also suggested eliminating intermediary services for exam registration and allowing bookings only through Government for Citizens, eGov and eGov Mobile.
Her proposals also included extending the operating hours of specialized public service centers and using additional locations for theoretical exams.
She asked the government to consider extending the centers’ working hours until 8:00 p.m. Currently, specialized public service centers in Kazakhstan operate from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
