Third mass power outage in two weeks occurs in Georgia
Tengrinews.kz — Georgia has experienced its third major power outage in the last two weeks, according to a report by Sova News TV channel.
The publication reports that electricity is out in every city across Georgia, with the Tbilisi Metro and national railway services both brought to a standstill.
In addition to the power outage, water supplies have been cut off for a portion of the population.
The first blackout occurred on the night of July 24, followed by a second on the morning of July 25. Both incidents affected a significant part of the country: Tbilisi and other major cities were left without power, metro and rail services were temporarily suspended, and disruptions to water supply and communications were reported.
Preliminary data suggests the first blackout was caused by the decoupling of Georgia's power grid from Azerbaijan's, while the second resulted from a failure on the Imereti power line.
