Tokayev congratulates new UK prime minister
Tengrinews.kz — President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has congratulated Andy Burnham on taking office as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, citing Akorda.
In his message, the Head of State noted the high level of Kazakh-British relations and confirmed his readiness to work together to further strengthen political dialogue, trade, economic and investment cooperation in the interests of the peoples of the two countries.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev wished Andy Burnham success in his responsible state duties, and well-being and prosperity to the friendly people of the United Kingdom.
It should be noted that on July 20 this year, the new leader of the UK’s ruling Labour Party, Andy Burnham, officially took office as prime minister. This was preceded by a ceremonial audience with King Charles III, during which the monarch instructed him to form a new government. Former head of government Keir Starmer, in turn, announced the end of his work as prime minister.
Note: Andy Burnham is a British politician and member of the Labour Party. He was born on January 7, 1970, in Liverpool. Since 2001, he has been elected to the House of Commons of the UK Parliament. Over the years, he served as culture secretary, health secretary and chief secretary to the Treasury in Labour governments. After leaving national politics in 2017, he was elected Mayor of Greater Manchester and was re-elected to the post. He became known for his active stance on regional development, transport, healthcare and social policy.
