Residents of Pavlodar region warned of local tornadoes

Tengrinews.kz — Residents of Pavlodar Region have received a warning from the regional Department of Emergency Situations about the risk of local tornadoes.
According to forecasters, strong squally winds, hail and thunderstorms are expected in the region.

“The formation of local tornadoes is also possible,” the Pavlodar Region Department of Emergency Situations said.

Residents were urged to stay at home where possible, tightly closing windows, doors and balconies.

“Do not take shelter under trees, and do not stand near power lines, billboards, bus stops or other unstable structures. Do not leave cars under trees or power lines,” rescuers noted.

If downed wires are found, residents should immediately call 112 and not approach them.
Residents of the region were advised to avoid trips outside the city where possible and to strictly follow the recommendations of emergency services. Due to the approaching bad weather, a storm warning has been issued in the region and will remain in effect until 8:00 p.m. on July 22.
As a reminder, on July 21, a powerful vortex resembling a tornado passed over the village of Konyrozek. The natural disaster damaged fences, outbuildings and the roofs of more than a dozen private houses, as well as the House of Culture, broke many trees and left the settlement without electricity.
The Pavlodar branch of Kazhydromet said the event was not included in official observation reports because the nearest weather station is located in the village of Uspenka, 30 kilometers from Konyrozek. They also added that weather stations in Pavlodar Region had never before recorded such a dangerous natural phenomenon.
Authorities in Uspenka District are now determining the exact scale of the destruction and calculating the damage caused.
On July 19, strong winds, heavy rain and large hail hit Pavlodar Region. Six people were injured in the bad weather, including three teenagers, and all required medical assistance.
Residents of the region posted photos and videos of the aftermath of the storm on social media. Squally winds broke trees, and power outages were reported in some areas. Owners of summer cottages also reported crop damage, especially in the village of Kalkaman.
After the powerful hailstorm, the Ekibastuz akimat declared a state of emergency in the city.
