In all honesty, I had serious reservations about “Suicide Squad.” The decision to make a movie about a bunch of villains just came out of left field. Why? Where were the other heroes? I felt cheated. Where was my Flash movie? Where were the Teen Titans, or even the Legion of Superheroes?

An Aug. 5 letter to the editor makes a reasonable proposal to build a four-lane bridge from the end of I-526 at Savannah Highway to Johns Island. Without calling this an I-526 bridge, lest I stir up I-526 opponents, this new bridge is badly needed.
I have never liked plastic grocery bags. Though I am a capitalist, some products, like plastic bags, make no sense. Clerks used to ask "paper or plastic?" Now they seem irritated if one asks for paper.
If not for the Historic Charleston Foundation and Board of Architectural Review, our beautiful Charleston would not have been named the No. 1 destination for the past three years. Preserving historical beauty is our goal.
The left would have us believe that the Koch brothers are the embodiment of evil. These men, both unapologetic patriots, dare to support conservatives in government and conservatives who aspire to serve. Both have donated a lot of money to conservative causes.
It’s lucky for Brian Hicks that he’s a columnist. That way he never has to be bothered by pesky details like sources or facts.
To people who live, work or shop there, parts of West Ashley are like a comfortable pair of old shoes. Other parts are a slog through traffic. Still others are neighborhoods sprouting one after another.
Angel Oak, a natural relic standing on Johns Island long before Old World settlers, has become more than a site of cultural heritage. In a rapidly urbanizing environment, it now stands as a reminder of the public’s power to conserve the natural value of our land.
