Seven years ago, lingerie guru Araks Yeramyan launched ‘Lingerie on Film,’ for which she distributed a disposal camera to notable friends across the art, film, and fashion worlds, including Michelle Williams, Alexa Chung, and Gia Coppola, and asked them to photograph a lingerie set in a creative way. “I wanted to do something bigger than a pretty girl in lingerie,” explained the Armenian designer of her inventive approach to showcasing her sexy wares. The result is a series of seemingly haphazard, un-retouched photos, many of which don’t even feature the photographer at all. Instead, bras are thrown across arm chairs, humorously fastened on pets, and undies are left poolside. “I wanted to do something natural, no hair and make up, no retouching. I wanted it to feel real.” This year, Scarlett Johansson, model Larissa Hoffman, designer Ryan Roche, and more grace the pages of the annual zine that she distributes to friends and supporters of the brand. As to how she chooses the photos that make the final cut? It's a tough one. “We have so many great outtakes,” said Araks. “It’s really hard to choose."
