State censorship efforts are once again being directed against an artist with Palestinian roots. Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul’s (Christian Democratic Union, CDU) department has reprimanded the Goethe-Institut for allowing a work by Basma al-Sharif to be shown in an exhibition in Lithuania.
