A Wisconsin mayor who carted away a drop box intended for absentee ballots ahead of the 2024 elections won't face charges. Wausau Mayor Doug Diny posed for photos as he removed a drop box from outside City Hall in September 2024. Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney announced Wednesday that he was unable to prove criminal wrongdoing in his investigation. He said the drop box didn't meet the definition of a ballot drop box because it was meant as a receptacle for payments, ballots and other city materials, and that the box didn't contain any ballots.
