Authorities say four people died when a car that was being pursued by an Alabama state trooper went off the road and hit a tree. Alabama Law Enforcement Agency spokesperson Amanda Wasden said in an email Sunday the crash occurred on a rural county road in southeast Alabama late Friday night. No other vehicles were involved. Wasden said the crash was under investigation, and no additional information was available. Wasden did not say what prompted the pursuit, though she said the driver was trying to elude the trooper.
