Cocaine with an estimated value of $12 million has been seized off the north coast of Puerto Rico, authorities said. In a statement on Monday, police said officers intercepted a 26-foot long boat without identification in waters off the town of Río Grande. Three suspects on board were arrested and more than 1,800 pounds (820 kilograms) of cocaine was seized. It is one of the biggest drug hauls in Puerto Rican waters in recent years. The U.S. territory has long served as a transit point for drugs being smuggled into the U.S. mainland and Europe.
