The director of the National Counterterrorism Center has announced his resignation, saying he “cannot in good conscience” back the Trump administration’s war in Iran. Joe Kent said on social media Tuesday that Iran “posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.” Earlier, Israel’s defense minister said that the military killed top Iranian security official Ali Larijani in an overnight strike as well as the head of the Revolutionary Guard’s all-volunteer Basij force. Gulf Arab nations came under renewed missile and drone fire Tuesday from Iran.
