Ugandans are set to vote in an election for president and other leaders. President Yoweri Museveni is seeking a seventh term in the election Thursday. Museveni has held power in the East African country since 1986. He faces a strong challenge from the musician-turned-politician known as Bobi Wine. Issues dominating the election include a potential blow to transparency due to an internet shutdown. Critics say the deployment of soldiers in the streets in advance of the election also interferes with the electoral process. There is a possibility of conflict from the opposition’s intent to remain near polling stations to prevent tampering.
