President-elect Donald Trump has expressed frustration that flags will be flying at half-staff when he takes office later this month. It’s an action put in place by President Joe Biden to honor the late President Jimmy Carter. U.S. flags had also been lowered to half-staff when then-President Richard Nixon was sworn in for a second term in 1973, due to the death of former President Harry S. Truman the month before. Trump wrote on social media Friday that “no American can be happy" about the flags being lowered. He indicated that he might try to do something about it, saying, “Let’s see how it plays out.” The Biden White House said the president would not change the flag plans.
