NATIONAL SUMMARY
There will be severe thunderstorms from near Houston,
eastward to the Florida Panhandle and northward to Kentucky
today. The storms will carry the risk of damaging winds,
hail, flooding downpours and even tornadoes. The risk will
continue through much of the nighttime hours. Rain can
stretch across the interior Southeast, including some of the
North Carolina and Virginia Piedmont. A little rain may fall
in the Great Lakes earlier in the day. Icy areas are likely
from western Maryland to northern New England. The Northwest
will have periods of rain. Snow is in store for the Cascades
and mountains of Idaho, western Montana, northern Utah,
western Wyoming and Colorado. Much of the Plains will be
mild while much of the Southwest will be warm.
