Archaeological efforts at the site began in 2015, promoted by the Israel Antiquities Authority, the Lithuanian Archaeological Society and the Jewish community of Lithuania. Since then, among other artifacts, the synagogue's bimah, Torah ark and Torah scroll have been recovered
