An influencer was left shocked after WeBuyAnyCar valued his luxury car collection at far below what he was expecting.
Dirt racer Mark McCann has built up an impressive YouTube following by showing off his fleet of cars he thinks is worth £5,000,000 collectively.
But when he took his vehicles to WeBuyAnyCar, the valuation site said they were only worth £823,910 altogether.
In a video filmed for his 288,000 subscribers, Mark decided to take his cars to both WeBuyAnyCar and an independent source for evaluation.
Car expert Tom Hartley said the entire collection was worth £1,380,000, taking into account factors such as mileage on the vehicles, their lifespan and their condition.
Mark then decided to approach WeBuyAnyCar, which claims it is the largest car buying service in the UK.
Anyone can get a free initial valuation in as little as 30 seconds by entering their vehicle registration number into WeBuyAnyCar.
You then have to book an appointment one of the 500+ branches, which are situated all around the UK, and take your vehicle into the branch for experts to assess it and give you a final quote.
Mark said he followed this process but staff told him he would have to take his cars in separately to different branches, which the YouTuber believes was because ‘superior’ members of staff got ‘spooked’ by his high end collection.
So the influencer decided to go undercover, dressing in different outfits and wearing wigs to take his cars into different branches.
A cameraman would hide nearby film it all for his channel.
And Mark was left shocked when the valuation site said his cars were only worth a total of £823,910.
WeBuyAnyCar uses the following criteria to assess how much vehicles are worth, according to its website:
1. Make & model
Certain models are more desirable and retain their value better than others. If you have a car that is in demand then it could be worth more than you think.
2. Number of previous owners
Cars with fewer previous owners are generally worth more due to many owners being a potential indication of unsolved problems with the vehicle.
3. The condition of your car
If there is any damage to the car, the car’s value will be lower than a car with no imperfections. This can include scratches, dents, stone chips and other wear & tear.
4. Manufacturer’s warranty
Selling a car with a manufacturer’s warranty provides reassurance to the buyer and can increase the value of the car.
5. Mileage
A car with lower mileage will retain more of its value than a car with above-average mileage.
6. Optional extras
Some extras such as heated seats and upgraded alloys could improve the desirability and value of your car.
7. Service history
A full-service history shows that the car has been well-maintained and means that it will be worth more than a car with service history gaps.
8. Current market prices
Market prices fluctuate based on supply and demand. We use live market data to give you an accurate price at the time of the valuation.
