Speaking to The U.S. Sun, she shared tips for a luxurious home without breaking the bank.
Clemson said interior designers use paint and artwork to enhance the appearance of homes.
However, these aren’t the only budget-friendly tricks for a quick upgrade.
“When you’re updating a room, one of the first steps should be to declutter,” she said.
“You will see what space you have to work with, especially if you’re making layout changes.
“Less is more, don’t feel like you have to overfill a space, a carefully curated room will look more elevated and well designed.
“Paint is a great way to transform a room.
“It will instantly change the way a room feels and can be affordable when you’re on a budget.
“Consider where you can use one paint color in multiple rooms, this will decrease any waste and also create a flow throughout your home.
“As interior designers, we always recommend using black within a design scheme to make it look more expensive.
“Black can help to anchor the space and bring in contrast, especially within a neutral room.
“To make your home look more expensive on a budget, opt for large pieces of artwork to make a statement.
“You can find large, affordable prints online at places like Desenio and Etsy.”
Clemson said strategically placing furniture and decorations can help to make a room look more spacious.
“Move your furniture away from the walls, such as your sofas,” she said.
“Bring your sofas closer to the center of the room, this will give you more space around your furniture.
When it comes to rugs, you always want to go large, even in smaller rooms.

“When everything is lined up against the wall, it can look like a doctor’s waiting room and leave you with an empty space in the middle, which can make the room look smaller.
“Go for a large rug and a large ceiling light.
“These two elements will make the space feel bigger, just because your space is small doesn’t mean your rug and lighting have to be.
“Choose a large rug that is big enough to fit under the two front feet of the sofa.
“This will zone the space and give the illusion that the room is bigger.
“When it comes to rugs, you always want to go large, even in smaller rooms.
“If the rug is too small, it will look like it’s floating in the middle of the room.
“You want the rug to anchor the space and bring the room together for a well-designed look.
“The same goes with a large statement ceiling light, it will draw your eyes up, making the room feel more spacious.”
