MIKE Brewer has left fans stunned after showing off the “most expensive car ever bought in Wheeler Dealer’s history”.
Alongside co-star mechanic Marc Priestley, the pair headed off to Germany to run the rule over an iconic 1980’s car worth €70,000 (£60,141) in the show’s latest episode.
When they arrived at their destination, Brewer and Priestly found themselves face-to-face with a BMW E30 M3.
Described as “one of the greatest drivers cars of all time”, the German model boasts a 2.3 litre engine with 200 hp and bespoke suspension that once set new standards for handling performance.
Purchased 18 years ago by its owner Sebastian and his partner, the car underwent major restoration to save it from its poor condition.
A fresh lick of paint, some welding and a fresh engine helped to turn the car back into its former self.
Practically everything, including the pistons and gears, was new.
Another major bonus was that the E30 M3 had clocked up just over 3,000 miles since the rebuild.
Upon closer inspection of the 35-year-old car, which has covered a total of 111,000 miles, Brewer and Priestly noticed a few stickers were missing from the hubs and a refurb was needed on the wheels.
However, these were just minor issues in comparison to what they found next.
The pair discovered two major faults, one in the interior and one on the exterior, that could affect the future selling price of the car.
Almost immediately after opening the driver’s door to inspect the inside, Priestly noticed what looked like a cigarette burn on the seat.
“That tiny bit of damage probably means a whole seat retrim,” he said.
Priestly and Brewer also picked up on a “glaring, obvious error” at the rear of the vehicle.
The “M3” badge had been place on the wrong side of the back of the car, so instead of being on the right, it was on the left.
After a successful test drive through the German countryside and back, Brewer eventually parted ways with €69,000 (£59,284) for the BMW E30 M3.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) ahead of the show’s broadcast on Monday, Priestly said the 80s classic was “one of the best cars we have ever turned out.”
He added: “It’s the most expensive car we’ve ever bought on the show, one that we sold for the most amount of money and one that I think we put the most effort and attention to detail in because of how iconic this car is.”
Brewer also recently realised every car enthusiasts’ dream when he entered a “top secret facility” in one of Wheeler Dealer’s latest episodes.
Fans watched on with envy as the show’s host inspected iconic sports cars in the hidden location.
The motor enthusiast has also revealed he managed to “make a profit” on a stunning retro Ferrari.
The V8-powered two-seater is one of the Prancing Horse’s most iconic motors – and is perhaps best known as the final model developed under the direction of Enzo Ferrari himself before his death.
