Ivy Invite: In a preview of the Ivy League Championship to come in May, the #3 Princeton openweight women welcome six conference foes, along with #15 Rutgers and #20 USC, to Lake Carnegie for the Ivy Invite this Friday and Saturday. Across two rounds of three-boat races, #5 Yale, #6 Brown, #10 Penn, #18 Harvard, Dartmouth, Columbia, and Cornell will take on the Tigers, Scarlet Knights, and Trojans. On Friday, Princeton, Harvard, and Cornell will race for the Class of 1975 Cup, which Princeton has won for eight consecutive years. Racing will be live streamed on ESPN+.
Cincinnati High School Invitational: In one of the premier midwest junior events of the season, 14 clubs have entered 243 crews to compete at the Cincinnati High School Invitational, hosted by the Cincinnati Junior Rowing Club. In addition to CJRC, regional powers Three Rivers and Chicago Rowing Foundation will compete on Lake Harsha this weekend. St. Andrews, winners of last year’s women’s points trophy at the USRowing Southeast Youth Championships, are traveling the farthest, coming in from Roswell, GA. Schedule are results are here.
Dreissigacker Cup: In Boston, the #6 Brown men will take on #8 Northeastern. These crews raced last weekend at the IRA Sarasota Invite, where Brown came away on top by only two seconds in the varsity and second varsity 8 events. Surely, the Huskies will be looking for some revenge on their home water this Saturday. Results here.
Platt Cup: The #2 Princeton lightweight men will race #3 Cornell on Lake Carnegie on Saturday to retake the Platt Cup, which the Big Red have won for the past three years. In 2023, Cornell handed the Tigers their only loss of the season, w. Princeton has opened the season with wins over #5 Navy, #6 Dartmouth, and #8 Columbia. Racing will be live streamed on ESPN+.
World Rowing Cup I: This weekend, 450 athletes from 34 nations will compete across 16 boat classes in first World Cup of the season in Varese, Italy. These are valuable training races for national team athletes as they prepare for the Olympics or World Championships. Live race tracker, audio commentary, and video streaming, with World Rowing commentators Martin Cross and Greg Searle, will be available on the World Rowing website.
