GREENBRAE

The incident happened at about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, when police received a report about the man with the ax following the victim near the corner of Industrial Way and Rich Street, Sgt. Jeff Peterson said.
The suspect broke into a building and injured the victim before he was stopped by auto shop employees, Peterson said. The victim was hospitalized for severe facial injuries, he said.
Scott Michael Scibilia, 54, of Petaluma was booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, disobeying a court order, making a criminal threat and committing a felony while on bail. No bail amount was set for him, according to jail records.
MARIN CITY
A state appeals court has affirmed the sentence of a man convicted in a Marin City shooting.
David Martin Sheik Umar Jah II was arrested in 2018 after a burst of gunfire in the Golden Gate Village neighborhood. The victim survived injuries to his lower body.
Jah, then 22, told investigators he fired in self-defense, according to the appeals court. He was charged with assault with a firearm, discharging a firearm with gross negligence and carrying a concealed firearm when not the registered owner.
Jah accepted a plea deal for an assault conviction and a suspended prison sentence. He received a 100-day jail sentence and was placed on probation for two years.
An appellate lawyer asked for a review by the 1st District Court of Appeal in San Francisco. In a ruling issued on March 15, a unanimous three-judge panel affirmed the sentence and rejected Jah’s assertions about ineffective legal counsel.
