Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is railing against growing criticism from top ally the United States against his leadership amid the war with Hamas. Netanyahu says the call by U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer for Israel to hold new a election is “wholly inappropriate." He says an election would force Israel to stop fighting and paralyze the country for months. Netanyahu also says an assault on the southern city of Rafah could be weeks away, despite warnings from Egypt and others. Gaza's Health Ministry says the war has killed more than 31,000 Palestinians.
