Kate Middleton has top-notch access to home healthcare as a royal, but the best treatment she’s getting comes from her own kids. In fact, reports say that Princess Charlotte in particular has gone all out to celebrate her mama during her recovery, which is completely in character for the 8-year-old.
A source told OK! on Saturday that Princess Charlotte “arranged a spa day” for her mom, who had a “planned abdominal surgery” on Jan. 17 and returned home to continue her recovery on Jan. 29. That sounds so sweet! They didn’t go into details about what the spa day entailed, but we can just imagine Charlotte giving her mom a manicure, putting coconuts on her eyes for a facial, and doing her hair for her. We bet it was so relaxing.
Princess Charlotte is known for being extremely helpful. Not just with her brothers, Prince George, 10, and Prince Louis, 5, but also with kids at school. A source told Hello! Magazine last month that the young royal is “so kind and friendly” at school, where “the other children adore her.”
“She’s kind to the kids in younger years and she’s very popular,” they added.
It’s not just Princess Charlotte who is helping her mom feel better, though. Prince George and Prince Louis are helping out as well. “They’re all going overboard to make sure she feels comfortable,” the insider dished to OK!. “Their house is filled with Kate’s favorite flowers, comfy blankets and pillows, and her go-to snacks. The family is just incredibly happy to have her back home at Adelaide Cottage.”
“They have been telling Kate stories, bringing tea and making her soup,” the source continued, adding, “She needs to rest, but Kate doesn’t have the heart to turn them away.” Aww! They say laughter is the best medicine, but for a mom, spending time with her babies is a type of medicine money can’t buy. It’s so sweet how involved they all are.
Prince William has been helping keep their kids in line during Middleton’s recovery. An insider told In Touch Weekly earlier this month, “William tells [the kids] not to be too boisterous and loud.” They added, “Louis forgets sometimes that she shouldn’t be jostled.”
Despite her kids’ best intentions, the Princess of Wales has been having a tough time. “It’s been a very challenging time,” the insider told OK! “She is reading and streaming her guilty-pleasure shows, like Bridgerton and The Kardashians. She’s secretly kind of enjoying the downtime.” Honestly? That sounds pretty nice! It’s hard to imagine Middleton staying in bed and watching The Kardashians, but there’s not much else you can do if you aren’t feeling well.
Although Middleton has a long recovery ahead of her — Kensington Palace said she won’t be returning to royal duties until after Easter — she does have the sweetest little caretakers at home. We know she’ll be just fine!
